Privacy & Cookies
Last updated 25 September 2026
This site is a bookshelf, not a data business. Nothing collected here is sold or rented, and no advertising is ever shown on these pages. If you accept the cookie notice, analytics here also measures whether our own advertising reached readers who wanted these books.
What is measured
Two analytics tools run here, and they behave very differently.
Plausible Analytics is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and never builds a profile of you. It records aggregate numbers only — which pages were read, which country a visit came from, which site linked here, and which buttons were used. It cannot identify you and runs whether or not you accept cookies.
Google Analytics 4 does set cookies, which is why it is switched off until you say otherwise. If you accept, it stores two identifiers (_ga and _ga_T4M1MNYDXY) that let it recognise the same browser on a later visit. If you decline, or ignore the notice, it stores nothing and collects nothing.
What is never collected
- No ad network runs on this site, and no third party places advertising here.
- No advertising or remarketing data at all unless you accept the cookie notice. If you do, Google Analytics keeps the identifiers that let us see whether our own book campaigns worked, and lets us reach readers who have already visited. Decline, and none of it is stored.
- No selling or sharing of any visitor data with third parties.
- No payment details. Card information is handled entirely by Shopify and never reaches this site.
- No tracking across other websites.
Cookies, plainly
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Set without consent? |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_T4M1MNYDXY | Google Analytics | Recognise a returning browser | No — only after you accept |
ecs-consent-v1 | This site | Remember your choice so the notice stops appearing | Yes — it is what records your answer |
| Shopify cookies | Shopify | Keep a basket and complete a purchase | Only if you begin buying |
Plausible sets no cookies of any kind.
Buying something
Purchases are processed by Shopify. When you buy, Shopify receives what an order requires — name, email, billing and delivery details, and payment information handled by its own payment processors. That data is governed by Shopify’s privacy policy as well as this one. Erasmus Press sees order details in order to fulfil and support your purchase; it never sees your full card number.
Email and Erasmus’ Reader’s Club
If you give your email address to claim a free novella or join Erasmus’ Reader’s Club, it is stored with the email service used to run that list and used to send you the book and occasional news about new work. It is not sold or shared with anyone else. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and one click is enough — no reason required.
Your choices
- Change your mind about cookies at any time: reopen the cookie notice. Declining removes consent immediately.
- Ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to the address below.
- Unsubscribe from any email using the link at its foot.
- Block cookies entirely in your browser settings; this site works normally without them.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have these rights under the GDPR and may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and no data is knowingly collected from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top will change and the cookie notice will be shown again so that any earlier consent is asked for afresh.
